Frequently Asked Questions
Regenerative medicine is a field of medicine that develops methods to regrow, repair or replace damaged or diseased cells, organs or tissues. It includes cell-based therapies and the use of materials to improve the body’s own healing capabilities.
We offer dextrose prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), bone marrow aspiration, and microfat aspiration injections.
All of our treatment protocols are compliant with the published FDA guidances. While the FDA has not approved any stem cell-based products for use, other than cord blood-derived blood-forming stem cells for certain blood diseases, the devices and methods we use are FDA compliant.
Currently, biologic injections are still considered elective and most insurance plans, including Medicare, do NOT pay for them. The one exception is Tricare insurance which has started covering PRP for mild to moderate arthritis of the knee and tennis elbow that has failed conservative treatment.
Any injection is potentially at-risk for causing infection, bleeding, or nerve damage. However, because we are using your own cells, you cannot be allergic to the treatment. Also, because the injections are done under ultrasound guidance, the risks of damaging surrounding structures, or of injecting the wrong location, are almost completely eliminated.
